For the first time, I think, since I started this blog, I am taking an Easter Break, partly because the footfall is decreasing somewhat but also because it will be a busier time than usual for me. After the break I will be picking up the threads and examining amongst others a poet whom I haven’t mentioned since 2015, I think. Her name is Táhirih. John Hatcher, in his book of translations of some of her poems, co-authored with Amrollah Hemmat, writes (page 25):
Certainly among the most critical philosophical/theological concepts she presents in her verse is the idea of the human soul as a divine emanation (a ‘dancing particle’ in the light emanating from God’s face).
More of that when April comes, which TSEliot called ‘the cruellest month’ for reasons which we may also be revisiting in the same sequence. I also hopefully will be throwing the poetry of RSThomas into the mix as well, assuming a valuable book of criticism by Wynn Thomas (no relative, I think) arrives from the publishers in time for me to do him justice.
Have an inspiring time, everyone. Will be back soon.
